Dressing:
-
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp white sugar
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 tsp lemon juice
Salad:
- 3 apples, cored and chopped
- 1 cup seedless grapes, halved
- 1 cup celery, chopped
- 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the dressing: In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, sugar, and salt until smooth. Set it aside while preparing the other ingredients.
- Prepare the apples: Core and chop the apples into bite-sized pieces. Toss the apple pieces with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- Combine the ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add the apples, grapes, celery, walnuts, and raisins (if using). Pour in the dressing and stir everything together until evenly coated.
- Chill and serve: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill the salad in the refrigerator until ready to serve. This recipe is best served fresh, within a day of preparation, to retain its crunchy texture.
Notes
- Use sweet, crisp apples like Granny Smith, Fuji, or Gala for the best flavor and texture.
- If you prefer a lighter dressing, substitute part of the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt.
- Toast the walnuts slightly to enhance their flavor.
- This salad can be prepared a few hours in advance but is best served on the same day.
- The raisins can be omitted or substituted with dried cranberries for a different twist.
