Description

This refreshing Strawberry Passionfruit Lemonade combines homemade strawberry syrup, zesty Meyer lemon juice, and tropical passion fruit juice for a vibrant, fruity drink perfect for summer. It’s simple to prepare in just 15 minutes and can be made ahead for easy entertaining.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For Strawberry Syrup:

  • 2/3 cup (100 g) hulled strawberries, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) water
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) sugar

For Lemonade:

  • 1 cup (244 g) Meyer lemon juice (from 4-5 large lemons)
  • 1/2 cup (120 g) fresh passion fruit juice (from 5-6 passion fruit)
  • 1 1/2 cups (360 ml) water, plus more to taste

Instructions

  1. Make the Strawberry Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine the chopped strawberries, water, and sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, lightly mashing the berries with the back of a spoon. Cook until the sugar dissolves and strawberries are very soft, about 5 minutes. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve, pressing to extract as much liquid as possible. You should yield about 3/4 cup of syrup. Set aside to cool completely.
  2. Prepare the Lemonade: In a large pitcher, combine Meyer lemon juice, fresh passion fruit juice, and water. Stir well to combine.
  3. Mix in the Strawberry Syrup: Add the cooled strawberry syrup to the pitcher and stir thoroughly. Taste, and add more water if a lighter flavor is desired, or top off with sparkling water for a fizzy twist. Serve chilled over ice.

Notes

  • The strawberry syrup can be prepared ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • Adjust the amount of water or sparkling water to tweak sweetness and tartness as preferred.
  • Meyer lemons are recommended for their sweet, floral flavor, but regular lemons can also be used.
  • For an even more refreshing twist, garnish each glass with fresh strawberries or lemon slices.
