Ingredients
Scale
Beef Mixture
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
Eggs
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
Ramen
- 4 packages beef ramen noodles (flavor packets reserved)
Garnishes
- ½ teaspoon sesame seeds
- 2 teaspoons green onion, chopped
Instructions
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes. Cook for about 8 minutes or until the beef is browned.
- Drain Grease: Carefully drain the excess grease from the skillet to avoid a greasy dish.
- Add Garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for one additional minute to release its aroma and flavor.
- Finish the Beef Sauce: Reduce the heat to low, then add the chili garlic sauce and rice wine vinegar. Stir everything to combine well, then remove the pan from the heat and cover it to keep warm.
- Soft Boil the Eggs: In a small saucepan, bring about 2 inches of water to a boil. Gently add the eggs and boil for exactly 6 minutes for a runny yolk. Remove eggs and immediately place them in an ice bath to stop cooking. Once cooled, peel and set aside.
- Cook the Ramen Noodles: In a separate large saucepan, bring 4 quarts of salted water to a boil. Add the ramen noodles and cook for about 3 minutes or until tender but still firm.
- Reserve Noodle Water: Before draining the noodles, reserve 1 cup of the cooking water. Drain the rest of the water from the noodles.
- Combine Noodles and Beef Mixture: Add the reserved noodle water, the ramen flavor packets, and the cooked noodles to the beef mixture. Toss gently to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Assemble and Serve: Divide the ramen into 6 bowls. Top each bowl with sesame seeds, chopped green onions, and half of a soft boiled egg. Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- Spicy Beef Ramen takes ramen noodles to a new level by adding ground beef and spicy seasonings for a hearty, flavorful meal.
- Soft boiled eggs add a rich and creamy texture that complements the spicy beef.
- Reserving noodle water helps to create a saucier, more cohesive dish when mixed with the beef and seasonings.
- Adjust the crushed red pepper and chili garlic sauce amount to control the spice level.
