Scale
For the Gravy
- 1/4 pound pork sausage
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2–3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1–1/4 cup whole milk
For Serving
- Warm biscuits
Instructions
- Cook the Sausage: Using a small skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until it is no longer pink, making sure to break it into small crumbles as it cooks. Once done, drain any excess grease from the skillet.
- Melt Butter and Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Add the butter to the same skillet and heat until it is completely melted. Gradually stir in the flour, salt, and pepper, cooking and stirring until everything is well incorporated and forms a smooth paste.
- Add Milk and Thicken the Gravy: Slowly pour in the milk while stirring constantly to ensure no lumps form. Bring the mixture to a boil, continuing to stir until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.
- Serve: Once the gravy is ready, serve it immediately over warm biscuits. Enjoy your meal!
Notes
- For thicker gravy, use 3 tablespoons of flour instead of 2.
- For added flavor, season the gravy with additional spices like garlic powder or paprika.
- Leftover gravy can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently before serving.
