Meat and Vegetables
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 cup diced yellow onion
Sauces and Canned Goods
- 24 oz can original Manwich sauce
- 15 oz can original Manwich sauce
Pasta
- 12 oz package farfalle (bowtie) noodles, cooked al dente
Cheeses
- 8 oz package shredded Velveeta cheese
- 8 oz package shredded Colby-Jack cheese
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and set it aside for later.
- Brown Beef and Onions: In a 4- to 5-quart heavy-bottomed stock pot, heat over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and diced yellow onion, cooking until the beef is browned and the onions are softened. Drain any excess grease from the pot and return the meat and onions to the pot.
- Add Sauces, Noodles, and Cheese: Stir in both cans of Manwich sauce, the cooked farfalle noodles, and the shredded Velveeta cheese. Mix everything thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined and the Velveeta begins to melt into the mixture.
- Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the combined Manwich casserole mixture into the prepared 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading evenly.
- Add Topping: Evenly sprinkle the shredded Colby-Jack cheese over the top of the casserole to create a cheesy crust as it bakes.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes, or until the cheese on top is melted and bubbly, and the casserole is heated through.
Notes
- For best texture, be sure not to overcook the farfalle noodles before mixing into the casserole; cook until just al dente.
- Drain excess grease after browning the beef to prevent the casserole from being too oily.
- If you prefer a spicier version, add a dash of hot sauce or chopped jalapeños when mixing the ingredients.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner protein option.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
