Description

This Pumpkin Spice Spiderweb Cookie Pizza is a festive and fun dessert perfect for autumn and Halloween celebrations. It features a sugar cookie base baked in a pizza pan, topped with creamy pumpkin spice frosting and decorated with a spooky spiderweb design made from black decorator icing. Candy eyes can be added for a playful touch. Easy to make and visually impressive, this dessert combines seasonal flavors with a creative twist.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Base

  • 1 16.5 ounce tube sugar cookie dough

Frosting

  • 1 can vanilla frosting
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • Orange gel food coloring (a few drops)

Decoration

  • Black decorator frosting
  • Candy eyes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Spray a round pizza pan with cooking spray that includes flour for best results. Alternatively, you may use a 9-inch cake pan, but baking time will be longer.
  2. Form and Bake the Cookie Base: Press the entire tube of sugar cookie dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form a pizza-like crust. Place it in the oven and bake for 14-16 minutes until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely before frosting.
  3. Prepare Pumpkin Spice Frosting: Stir the pumpkin pie spice into the can of vanilla frosting thoroughly. Add a few drops of orange gel food coloring and mix until the color is evenly distributed.
  4. Frost the Cookie: Spread the pumpkin spice frosting evenly over the cooled cookie base, covering the entire surface.
  5. Create the Spiderweb Design: Using black decorator icing, pipe concentric circles about ½ inch apart starting from the outer edge toward the center of the cookie pizza. Then, take a toothpick and drag it from the center outward through the icing to create the spiderweb effect. Repeat this at intervals all around the cookie.
  6. Add Candy Eyes (Optional): Decorate your spiderweb by placing candy eyes randomly for a fun and spooky effect.
  7. Storage: Store the finished cookie pizza in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze it for up to one month to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • You can use 1 pouch of sugar cookie dough prepared according to package directions or your favorite sugar cookie recipe instead of store-bought tube dough.
  • If you want from-scratch frosting, try a homemade vanilla buttercream or pumpkin spice frosting recipe.
  • If you don’t have black decorator icing, dye about 1/4 of the vanilla icing black and use a piping bag to create the spiderweb decoration.
  • Allow the cookie to cool completely before frosting to prevent melting and sliding of the icing.
