STEAK:
- 2 lbs. Ribeye steak, organic (or substitute with New York Strip or Top Sirloin)
- 1 tablespoon Extra virgin olive oil
- 2 teaspoons On Everything All-Purpose Blend
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 garlic cloves, peeled and halved
- 2-4 fresh thyme sprigs (or rosemary sprigs)
OPTIONAL GARNISH:
- Steak sauce
Instructions
- Prep the Steak: Pat the steaks dry with paper towels on both sides. Generously season with sea salt and On Everything All-Purpose Blend on all sides.
- Heat the Skillet: Place a 10-inch cast iron skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add the olive oil to coat the bottom of the skillet.
- Sear the First Side: Carefully place the steaks in the hot skillet and sear for 4-5 minutes until a brown crust forms. Using tongs, flip the steaks to the other side and sear for another 4-5 minutes.
- Butter Baste and Aromatics: Reduce heat to medium. Add butter, garlic cloves, and thyme sprigs to the pan. As the butter melts, tilt the pan slightly and spoon the butter over the steaks for 1-2 minutes, basting continuously.
- Check for Doneness: Use a meat thermometer to check internal temperature: Medium Rare (130–135°F), Medium (140–145°F), Medium Well (150–155°F), Well Done (160–165°F). Continue to cook as needed.
- Rest the Steaks: Transfer the steaks to a cutting board and let rest for about 10 minutes to redistributes juices.
- Serve: Slice the steaks against the grain, garnish with sauce if desired, and serve with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes, salad, or rice.
Notes
- Steak can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat gently in a low oven at 250°F for 20 minutes to preserve juiciness.
- Mix or substitute the On Everything All-Purpose Blend with homemade dry rub or steak seasoning for variation.
- For best searing results, ensure the skillet is thoroughly preheated before adding the steaks.
