Swedish Meatballs
- 1 pound ground beef 85% lean
- 1 pound ground pork
- 2 eggs lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 small onion very finely diced (or grated)

- 1 Tbsp. fresh parsley chopped
- 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 Tbsp. olive oil
Homemade Sauce/Gravy
- 4 Tbsp. butter
- 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 tsp. Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp. kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
Serving
- Mashed Potatoes, Rice, or Egg Noodles for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Meatballs: Combine eggs and breadcrumbs, add onion, garlic, parsley, spices, salt, pepper, beef, and pork. Mix well and form into meatballs.
- Cook the Meatballs: Brown meatballs in olive oil until cooked through. Set aside.
- Make the Sauce: Melt butter, add flour, then slowly whisk in broth and cream. Add Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened.
- Combine and Serve: Add meatballs to the sauce and simmer. Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
Notes
- If you prefer a smoother texture, grate the onion instead of dicing.
- For juicier meatballs, include the panade mixture.
- To thicken the sauce, mix in a beurre manie (butter and flour) and simmer.
