  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion very finely diced (or grated)
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 Tbsp. fresh parsley chopped
  • 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil

Homemade Sauce/Gravy

  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper

Serving

  • Mashed Potatoes, Rice, or Egg Noodles for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatballs: Combine eggs and breadcrumbs, add onion, garlic, parsley, spices, salt, pepper, beef, and pork. Mix well and form into meatballs.
  2. Cook the Meatballs: Brown meatballs in olive oil until cooked through. Set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce: Melt butter, add flour, then slowly whisk in broth and cream. Add Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened.
  4. Combine and Serve: Add meatballs to the sauce and simmer. Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.

Notes

  • If you prefer a smoother texture, grate the onion instead of dicing.
  • For juicier meatballs, include the panade mixture.
  • To thicken the sauce, mix in a beurre manie (butter and flour) and simmer.
