-
- 6 uncooked lasagna noodles
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Oil for deep-fat frying
-
Dip
-
- 1/2 pound bulk Italian sausage
- 2 cups whole-milk ricotta cheese
- 1 cup spaghetti sauce
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup shredded Italian cheese blend
Instructions
- Cook the lasagna noodles: Boil the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain them and cut into 2-inch pieces. Prick each piece several times with a fork to prevent puffing during frying.
- Prepare the cheese mixture: Mix grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder in a small bowl, setting it aside for garnish.
- Fry the noodle chips: Heat oil in an electric skillet or deep fryer to 375°F. Fry the noodle pieces in batches for 1-2 minutes, turning once, until golden brown and crispy. Drain the chips on paper towels and immediately sprinkle with the prepared cheese mixture.
- Cook the sausage: In a skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat for 4-6 minutes, breaking it into fine crumbles, until no longer pink.
- Make the dip: Stir the ricotta cheese, spaghetti sauce, minced garlic, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper into the sausage. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer uncovered for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
- Assemble the dip: Transfer the dip to a 1-quart microwave-safe dish. Sprinkle shredded Italian cheese blend on top. Cover and microwave on high for 45-60 seconds or until the cheese is melted.
- Serve: Serve the hot dip with the crispy lasagna noodle chips for dipping enjoyment.
Notes
- Pricking the lasagna noodles is crucial to prevent them from puffing while frying.
- The dip can be reheated if needed, and it’s best served warm for the ultimate cheesy experience.
- You can prepare the lasagna chips a day in advance and store in an airtight container for easy assembly later.
