Ingredients
Scale
Crust
- 20 Oreo (230 grams) cookies (regular-stuffed, keep filling intact)
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Chocolate Filling
- 1 1/3 cups (266 grams) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 8 ounces (227 grams) bittersweet baking chocolate, melted
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 10 tablespoons (142 grams) unsalted butter, at room temperature
Whipped Cream Topping
- 1 1/3 cups heavy cream, cold
- 4 teaspoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Additional Topping
- 1 cup heavy cream, cold
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the crust: Crush the Oreo cookies finely, keeping the filling intact, and combine with the melted unsalted butter. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie dish to form a crust. Chill in the refrigerator while preparing the filling.
- Make the chocolate filling: In a heatproof bowl, melt the bittersweet baking chocolate until smooth. In another bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar together until thick and pale. Slowly incorporate the melted chocolate and vanilla extract into the egg mixture. Add the room temperature butter and continue beating until the filling is silky and smooth.
- Assemble the pie: Pour the chocolate filling into the chilled Oreo crust, smoothing the top evenly. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight to set the filling properly.
- Prepare whipped cream topping: Whip the cold heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Spread the whipped cream gently over the set chocolate filling in the pie crust.
- Garnish and chill: Optionally, whip the remaining heavy cream with additional powdered sugar until soft peaks form and pipe or dollop decoratively over the pie. Sprinkle chocolate shavings or dust cocoa powder on top for garnish. Chill the pie again for 30 minutes before serving.
- Serve: Slice and serve chilled. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator to keep the whipped cream fresh and the filling firm.
