- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon Captain Morgan Spiced Rum (see recipe note for substitution)

Instructions
- Prepare the Cookie Dough: In a large mixing bowl, cream together ¾ cup softened butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add in the all-purpose flour and salt, mixing just until the dough forms and no dry flour remains. Be careful not to overmix to maintain tender cookies.
- Shape the Cookies: Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them evenly spaced on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Using your thumb or the back of a spoon, gently press an indentation into the center of each dough ball, being careful not to press all the way through.
- Bake the Cookies: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cookies for approximately 12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set but still soft.
- Prepare the Icing: While the cookies bake, blend ¼ cup softened butter with powdered sugar and Captain Morgan Spiced Rum in a small bowl until smooth and creamy.
- Fill the Thumbprints: Once the cookies have cooled completely, spoon or pipe the spiced rum icing into each indentation, filling the thumbprint centers.
- Decorate: Lightly dust the filled cookies with ground nutmeg to enhance their festive flavor and aroma.
- Serve and Store: Allow the icing to set before serving. Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
