Description
This Creamed Spinach recipe is a quick and easy side dish featuring tender baby spinach in a rich, silky cream sauce made with garlic, cream cheese, and heavy cream. Ready in just 15 minutes, it’s perfect for adding a delicious, creamy green vegetable to any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
Spinach Mixture
- 10 oz Baby spinach (or 6 oz frozen spinach, thawed and drained well)
- 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
Cream Sauce
- 3 tbsp Unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup Heavy cream
- 4 oz Cream cheese (cut into small pieces)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/4 tsp Sea salt
- 1/4 tsp Black pepper
Optional Topping
- Parmesan cheese (for serving)
Instructions
- Heat Butter and Garlic: Heat the butter in a large skillet with tall sides over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
- Cook Spinach: Add the baby spinach to the skillet. Sauté for 2-4 minutes until just barely wilted. If the pan is too full to stir or you can’t fit all the spinach, add what you can and cover for 1-2 minutes to let the spinach at the bottom wilt, then stir in a folding motion and add more spinach as needed.
- Add Cream Sauce Ingredients: Stir in the heavy cream, cream cheese, Italian seasoning, sea salt, and black pepper. Stir constantly until the cream cheese melts completely.
- Simmer and Thicken: Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools from hot to warm.
- Serve: If desired, sprinkle with parmesan cheese before serving. Enjoy your creamy, flavorful creamed spinach as a delicious side dish.
Notes
- This recipe comes together in just 15 minutes, making it an easy and quick side dish option.

- You can customize the seasoning with other herbs if preferred, although Italian seasoning adds a nice flavor.
- Adding Parmesan cheese on top is optional but adds a lovely savory finish.
- Use a large skillet with tall sides to accommodate the volume of spinach as it cooks down.
