Description

A classic and creamy Italian dessert featuring layers of coffee-soaked lady fingers and a luscious mascarpone cream, dusted with cocoa powder. This easy-to-make tiramisu combines rich espresso and coffee liqueur with whipped cream and mascarpone for a decadent treat perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Mascarpone Cream

  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream (360 ml)
  • 8 ounce container mascarpone cheese, room temperature (225 g)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar (67 g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5 ml)

Soaking Mixture

  • 1 1/2 cups cold espresso, prepared (360 ml)
  • 3 Tablespoons coffee flavored liqueur (optional, Kahlua or DaVinci brands) (45 ml)

Other Ingredients

  • 1 package Lady Fingers (Savoiardi brand recommended)
  • Cocoa powder for dusting the top

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mascarpone Cream: Add the heavy whipping cream to a mixing bowl and beat on medium speed using electric mixers or a stand mixer. Gradually add the sugar and vanilla extract while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until the mixture is smooth and combined. Set aside.
  2. Dip the Lady Fingers: Pour cold espresso and coffee liqueur into a shallow bowl. Quickly dip each lady finger on both sides into the coffee mixture without soaking them, just enough to moisten them.
  3. Assemble the First Layer: Lay a single layer of the dipped lady fingers at the bottom of an 8×8 inch (or similar size) pan.
  4. Add Mascarpone Cream: Spread half of the prepared mascarpone cream evenly over the lady fingers layer.
  5. Second Layer: Repeat by dipping more lady fingers and placing another layer on top of the cream. Then, smooth the remaining mascarpone cream over the second layer.
  6. Finish and Chill: Generously dust cocoa powder over the top using a fine mesh strainer for an even layer. Refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 3 to 4 hours, or preferably overnight, before serving to allow flavors to meld and the dessert to set.

Notes

  • This tiramisu is creamy, delicious, and incredibly easy to make with few ingredients.
  • Do not soak the lady fingers too long in the coffee mixture to keep the dessert from becoming soggy.
  • Using fresh cold espresso provides a robust coffee flavor but instant espresso mix can be substituted if needed.
  • Refrigerating overnight enhances the flavors and texture.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the coffee liqueur and add a little extra espresso or coffee instead.
