Description

A quick, flavorful, and healthy shrimp recipe made with simple ingredients. This dish is perfect for an appetizer or a main course, offering a smoky, tangy kick that’s sure to impress your guests. Best of all, it’s ready in under 20 minutes!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • Shrimp
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Seasoning and marinade
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade
In a large mixing bowl, combine the shrimp, olive oil, and lemon juice. These ingredients will act as the base for the flavorful marinade.
  2. Add seasoning
To the bowl, add smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix thoroughly, ensuring the shrimp are evenly coated with the seasonings.
  3. Preheat the air fryer
Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and allow it to preheat. This step ensures even cooking and crispy results.
  4. Prepare the shrimp for cooking
Thread the shrimp onto skewers or arrange them in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Be careful not to overcrowd or let the shrimp fall through the grates.
  5. Cook the shrimp
Place the prepared shrimp in the air fryer and cook for 7-8 minutes, or until they are no longer translucent and reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). The shrimp will turn pink and slightly firm when properly cooked.
  6. Serve and enjoy
Remove the shrimp from the air fryer and serve hot. They make a fantastic main course or appetizer, perfect for dipping or enjoying with a side dish.

Notes

  • If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before threading the shrimp to prevent burning in the air fryer.
  • Feel free to adjust the spice level by adding more or less cayenne pepper.
  • This recipe pairs well with a slice of lemon, a drizzle of garlic butter, or a fresh salad on the side.
  • The marinade can be used with other seafood like scallops or fish.
  • Ensure your air fryer basket is clean and lightly sprayed with cooking oil to prevent sticking.
