Ingredients
Scale
Spinach Dip
- 12 oz Frozen chopped spinach (thawed and squeezed dry)
- 6 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
Dough and Topping
- 1 tube refrigerated pizza crust (13.8 oz)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or garlic salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the breadsticks.
- Prepare spinach dip: In a mixing bowl, beat together the thawed and drained chopped spinach with softened cream cheese. Add minced garlic, salt, onion powder, chili powder, pepper, Italian seasoning, parmesan cheese, and mozzarella cheese. Beat the mixture until it becomes creamy and well combined.
- Shape dough: Unroll the refrigerated pizza crust onto a sheet of parchment paper. Using a pizza cutter, cut the dough as shown in the recipe to form one large Christmas tree-shaped triangle and two smaller triangles.
- Create second triangle: Move the two smaller triangles to a second sheet of parchment paper and arrange them with their straight edges touching to create a second triangle of dough that matches the shape of the first.
- Assemble layers: Spread the prepared spinach dip evenly across the second triangle of dough. Carefully flip the first large triangle over onto the filled triangle to sandwich the spinach dip between two layers of pizza dough.
- Make cuts for twists: Cut slits from near the center of the dough out to the edges on both left and right sides, leaving about an inch intact in the center to keep the tree shape. Cuts should be spaced about an inch apart.
- Twist slices: Grab each cut slice and twist it upwards. The shorter top slices require about a half twist, while the longer bottom slices can be twisted two to three full times to create a braided look.
- Bake: Place the twisted dough on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden brown on top and completely cooked through on the bottom. Avoid undercooking to ensure a fully baked texture.
- Prepare garlic butter and serve: While baking or after removing from the oven, melt the butter and stir in the garlic powder (or garlic salt) and Italian seasoning. Brush this flavorful butter mixture over the warm breadsticks. Serve immediately for best taste.
