Green Bean Mixture
-
- 26 oz frozen cut green beans, thawed
- 10.5 oz condensed cheddar soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup dehydrated minced onion
- 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/3 cup shredded parmesan cheese
Topping
- 1 box Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F to get it ready for baking.
- Prepare the green bean mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the green beans, cheddar soup, milk, minced onion, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir the ingredients well to ensure everything is evenly mixed. Add the shredded cheddar and parmesan cheeses to the mixture and stir again until fully incorporated.
- Prepare the baking dish: Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish generously with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Pour the green bean mixture into the baking dish and spread it out evenly using a spatula or spoon.
- Mix the biscuit topping: In a separate bowl, pour the Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix and set the seasoning packet aside for later. Add the shredded cheddar cheese and milk to the biscuit mix. Stir the mixture until no large lumps remain and it forms a smooth batter.
- Assemble the casserole: Pour the prepared biscuit batter evenly over the green bean mixture in the baking dish, ensuring the entire surface is covered.
- Bake the casserole: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake the casserole until the biscuit topping is golden brown, approximately 50 to 55 minutes.
- Prepare the butter topping: While the casserole is baking, combine the melted butter and the seasoning packet from the biscuit mix in a small bowl. Stir until the seasoning fully dissolves into the butter.
- Apply the butter topping: Once the casserole is out of the oven, brush the seasoned butter evenly over the biscuit topping. Let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes to allow the butter to soak in.
- Serve and enjoy: Slice the casserole into portions and serve warm. Enjoy this comforting, cheesy dish!
Notes
- You can substitute fresh green beans for frozen ones, but be sure to blanch them first.
- For extra flavor, sprinkle some additional Italian seasoning on top of the biscuit crust before baking.
- This casserole can be prepared a day in advance, stored covered in the refrigerator, and baked when needed.
- Pair this dish with roasted turkey or ham for a complete meal.
