Description

Caramel Puff Corn is a deliciously addictive snack made by coating crunchy puffed corn twists with a rich, buttery caramel sauce. This easy recipe combines sweet and salty flavors, perfect for holiday gift-giving, game day treats, or anytime snacking. The popcorn is baked with a smooth caramel glaze until perfectly crisp and golden.

Ingredients

Scale

Popcorn

  • 10 cups popcorn twists (175 grams, also called Puff Corn)

Caramel Sauce

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (225 grams)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed, 155 grams)
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup (130 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the coated popcorn.
  2. Prepare Popcorn Base: Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the popcorn twists evenly over the sheet and set aside.
  3. Make Caramel Sauce: In a large saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup. Heat over medium-high heat, whisking frequently until the mixture comes to a boil.
  4. Boil and Add Baking Soda: Continue boiling and stirring the mixture for 2 minutes. Then, carefully add the baking soda. The mixture will foam up. Keep whisking and cooking for 1-2 minutes until the foam settles slightly.
  5. Coat the Popcorn: Pour the hot caramel sauce over the popcorn twists and stir gently to coat them evenly with the caramel.
  6. Bake the Popcorn: Place the coated popcorn in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 10-15 minutes to ensure even coating and prevent burning.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove the popcorn from the oven and allow it to cool for 5-10 minutes. Once cooled, break into smaller pieces as desired.
  8. Store: Store the caramel puff corn in an airtight container or Ziploc bag for up to 1-2 weeks to maintain freshness.
