Description

A refreshing and fruity Honey Berry Kombucha Smash featuring fresh blueberries, raspberries, honey, kombucha, and ginger beer, perfect for a light and effervescent summer beverage.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruit and Sweetener

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 cup fresh raspberries

Beverages

  • 1 12-ounce bottle kombucha (ginger or strawberry flavored recommended)
  • 4 ounces ginger beer

Garnish

  • Fresh mint or basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook Blueberries: Place the blueberries and honey in a saucepan and heat over medium-low heat. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, until the berries burst and release their juice.
  2. Muddle Berries: Turn off the heat and transfer the cooked blueberries to a jar or bowl. Add fresh raspberries and about 1/2 cup of kombucha. Muddle the mixture until the berries are somewhat smashed and combined.
  3. Prepare Glasses: Fill two glasses with crushed ice to chill and ready them for the smash.
  4. Assemble Drinks: Divide the smashed berry and kombucha mixture evenly into each glass. Top each glass with more kombucha, leaving space for the ginger beer.
  5. Add Ginger Beer: Pour ginger beer into each glass, finishing the drink with some smashed berry mixture on top.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with fresh mint or basil leaves if desired, and serve immediately for a refreshing burst of flavor.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe berries for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
  • Adjust honey quantity based on your preferred sweetness level.
  • Feel free to experiment with different kombucha flavors like ginger, strawberry, or lemon.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, ensure the ginger beer contains no alcohol.
  • This recipe serves two as a refreshing afternoon or brunch beverage.
