Ingredients
Scale
Donut Batter
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- ⅔ cup milk
- ⅔ cup vegetable oil
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Donut Icing & Toppings
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon orange food coloring
- 6 tablespoons Halloween Jimmies sprinkles
- ½ cup candy eyeballs
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a donut pan with nonstick spray to ensure easy removal after baking, then set aside.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together for 2 to 3 minutes until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened. Then, add the vegetable oil and milk, mixing to combine.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt. Add the vanilla extract and whisk well to evenly distribute all dry ingredients.
- Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients bowl, mixing thoroughly until the batter is smooth and no lumps remain.
- Fill the Donut Pan: Transfer the batter to a piping bag or a plastic bag with the corner cut off for easier filling. Fill each cavity of the donut pan about 3/4 full to allow room for rising during baking.
- Bake the Donuts: Place the donut pan into the preheated oven and bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the donuts are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Prepare the Icing: While the donuts bake, whisk together powdered sugar, water, and orange food coloring in a small bowl until smooth and glossy.
- Cool and Decorate: Once baked, allow the donuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes. Then carefully remove them and turn them over to dip the tops in the orange glaze. Immediately decorate with Halloween jimmies sprinkles and candy eyeballs to create a spooky monster effect.
Notes
- Use a piping bag for clean and easy filling of the donut molds.
- Be careful not to overfill the donut pan to prevent overflow and uneven baking.
- Allow the donuts to cool slightly before glazing to ensure the icing adheres properly without melting off.
- For a gluten-free version, substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free baking blend.
- Store donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days for best freshness.
