Ingredients
Scale
Bread Bowl
- 1 round loaf sourdough bread
Cheese and Toppings
- 1 (8-ounce) wheel of brie cheese
- 1/2 cup fig preserves
- Fresh figs (for garnish)
- Rosemary sprigs (for garnish)
Other
- Olive oil (for brushing bread)
Instructions
- Prepare the bread bowl: Place the brie wheel on top of the bread loaf. Using a sharp knife, trace around the brie to create a circle on the bread’s surface. Cut within the circle to remove the bread so the brie will fit snugly inside. Then, cut 1-inch slices around the outer edge of the circular section without cutting all the way through. Brush the outside of the bread with olive oil and set aside.
- Prepare the brie: On a flat surface, remove the outer rind from the top of the brie wheel carefully and discard it. This helps the fig preserves blend well with the melted cheese.
- Assemble: Place the prepared brie inside the hollowed bread bowl. Spoon the fig preserves on top of the brie, spreading it evenly.
- Preheat air fryer: Line the bottom of the air fryer basket with parchment paper or aluminum foil to catch any drips. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook: Place the assembled bread bowl with brie and fig preserves into the center of the air fryer basket. Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the bread is golden and toasted, and the brie is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Carefully remove the bread bowl from the air fryer and transfer it to a serving plate. Garnish with fresh figs and rosemary sprigs. Serve warm as a delightful appetizer.
Notes
- This air fryer baked brie bread bowl is ideal for holiday parties, offering a warm, gooey, and flavorful appetizer that impresses guests.
- Using an air fryer frees up oven space, which is precious during busy holiday cooking.
- Be cautious when removing the bread to ensure the bottom remains intact and forms a sturdy bowl for the melted cheese.
- Fresh figs add a lovely touch of sweetness and visual appeal but can be omitted or substituted with other seasonal fruits.
